Help Needed fuel problems

my son was driving my f-250 7.3 and i think he ran it out of fuel.i put fuel in it but it will not start , is there something i have to do for it to start.any ideas. thanks

crack the fuel filter cap, or take it off to inspect the bowl.

if its full, then you might have a plugged filter or bad pump. empty the bowl carefully and do the next step to see if the pump is pumping.

if its empty. have an observer watch it fill while you hold the key to the first position. with the key in the 1st position, "Wait to Start Light" you should hear the drivers side frame rail running. fill the bowl up 3/4 the way up. replace the cap.

cycle the key/WTS a couple of times to finish filing the bowl and dump fuel into the heads.

it may run rough until you get the air worked out

Another way to purge the fuel bowl is to open the drain cock and keep cycling the key until you see fuel dripping under the truck. Just don't let the EPA see you!
