gift cards at walmart

I was living on another planet for the last few years and was simply amazed at what i discvered a few days back about walmart gift cards and buying fuel

if you use a wall world gift card at the wall fuel station you get a 3 cent a gallon discount. WOW
so now i got a two gift cards charged up and look for murphy stations now vice flying J

the best part is the cards are free, you just put how much money you want on em and then recharge em as you run down the tab

so if you have been off planet like me
i thought this was a good PSA

sure...walmart makes HOW MUCH on your money...that you gave 'em
to HOLD <til you use it ?>

i use my kroger card <free, no pre pay> and get 3 cents off the pump
price ANY time...no matter if i cash/debit or credit card pay...

using the SAME kroger <grocery store> frequent shopper card...every
time we spend 100 bucks <in the store> we get a 10 cent PER GALLON
discount <and more often than not Kroger in both tomball & spring cypress
are the cheapest DIESEL

Nice to hear about that. I usely fill up at this unmanned station. It is were I fill my KW at. Love the big truck pumps. The fuel it usely 5-10 cents cheaper than anywere else. Will have to remember about the Wally world gift card though

just pointing out that its a different kinda 'loan' <some might call it a scam>...
imagine how many people use these pre-paid cards to get 3 cents off
per gallon....

not everyone can drop a 100+ bucks in one fill up <like we all can>...

imagine if they hold all this "pre paid" (really zero interest loan money)
that people have given 'em for even a SINGLE day....theyre makin' TONS
of money on it just in interests...and imagine how many folks loose the
cards....or leave even a small amount of money on the cards...

and its even MORE dramatic when you consider you give someone
a "gift card" and it takes 'em MONTHS to use it...

some of the stores were even EXPIRING the cards or taking a
FEE on top of the 1st purchase you made <i had an american
express gift card given to me that did that>

little STORES outta biz...now theyre goin' after the gas stations too...

I got a Wal-Mart Credit Card about two years ago and then pay it off every mo when I use it on the road. I only use it for gas or diesel. You get the same 3 cents off for using it

Bush, that's a good point. As much as I like WalMart, I'd rather see them use a "reward" card like Kroger, Albertsons, Tom Thumb, and others for the discounts. Plus when the WalMart card zeros out, you can't get any more fuel. I did that one day when I only had $25.00 left. The pump gave me $25.00 and I had to restart with my own card to finish the fillup. Also, Tom Thumb gives you a 10 cent discount for each purchase over $50.00. It was nice a few days ago to fill up with diesel at Kroger for $2.679 per gallon because I got my 10 cent Kroger discount.
