I started mine in the shop, probably 50-60 degrees, pulled it outside to run a little and warm up the trans fluid. I don't recall the high idle in the shop, but it sure was idling faster out side below 30 degrees. I think it will only idle faster in park and the air temp coming in is what controlls the idle.

It's and air temp thing to help it warm up. It won't do it when it is 80 degrees outside.

The reason ford has the AIC is because of wet stacking, for those who let thier trucks idle.

right as i said...its an air temp "thing"...not an engine temp thing...
if the truck is running, warmed/hot and the air temp is below 40 or
so the idle WILL kick up.

im doing some searching to CONFIRM...so far im not finding alot of
details but...in most documents its refered to something like "Cold Idle kicker Performance Warm Ambient Temps"

Id go start mine and get it warm to confirm (what i THINK ive experianced)
but its a NICE day here today

i did notice last week when it was not COLD but "COOL" the kicker
didnt run the idle up as high as i recall it had done when we lived
in virginia (winters)
