High & low beam power

My friend has a 05 Chevy 3500. He has connected the high beam fuse w the low beam fuse so that when he turns his high beams on the low beams stay on also. Does anyone have any info on how to achieve this w the 02 F250 & are there any negatives w doing this?

there had been discussion on the dark side about this being too hot and melting the plastic in the housing. Is that likely or is that something that changed with a year model?

The hotter aftermarket bulbs I've read melting the assembly plastic but with the OEM's I haven't.
