... feel free to smack me if this is too ridiculous. Theoretically, I was wondering if a coolant "pressure" gauge is a possibility? My thinking was when HG's go out they pressurize the cooling system and blow coolant out the reservoir. Since most people are not looking under the hood on a daily basis to see the coolant residue or coolant loss. A gauge that registered and saved a peak pressure would alert you to potential HG failure long before the average driver would catch the problem.

I'm sure there is a narrow range between the normal pressure and the release valve/cap pressure. But I think it's possible.

It should work, but really once your pressure starts to spike on accelleration, your coolant will start puking out the bottle...but then again, if you are a gauge loving guy...go for it :D
