Largest tire on a stock wheel

What is the largest tire any of you have/are running on a stock 16 x 7" aluminum wheel? I'm running 285/75/16's now. Needing new ones shortly. Would like to go to 315's if possible. I know what the tire places say and have done alot of research but would like to hear from someone that is running 315's or maybe 305's.

I had 305s on my 02 with the stock steel wheels and a friend is running 315s on an 03 with aluminum wheels.

I hope this isn't topic hijacking, but what about "largest" in terms of overall diameter? I also have 16x7 wheels and with stock tires they are currently 30". I would like to go 40" if possible without having to buy new rims. Is it possible?

In short NO. Max size about 35".

I have 315/70/16 on stock wheels with no problems. And as of the last 3 rotations i didnt see any abnormal tire wear.

I'm now running 315/75R16 Wild Country XTX all terrains on stock rims. I don't know that I could go any bigger on these wheels. I think it may be pushing it running a tire that is 12.5 inches wide on a 7" wide rim. I'm not an expert, but I have seen no negative effects in two days of driving.

I ran 315/75R16's for 6 months on stock 16x7 inch wheels without any problems or irregular tire wear however I wouldn't mount any larger of a tire on 7 inch wheels 315's are pretty much the limit.
