Found my first leak. 1 drop of gear oil under the front ( passenger side). Wet on the knuckle. What am I looking at guys? 1 person told me a seal, another said the whole unit had to be replaced. It's the DANA 60 front end on the truck in my sig.

Thanks guys. John

the oil seal that keeps the gear oil in the diff is at the diff the tubes are empty and should not have oil in them. No you do not need to replace the whole thing (guessing the axle) but what you do need to do is labor intensive in that you will need to disassemble the hubs to remove the axle shafts and then remove the carrier from the diff to gain access to the seal. Now is an excellent time to do any work you have been delaying on the hubs also since you have to disassemble them to get the job done.
