Looking at a 2002 7.3 PSD

What should I look for as far as problems on this engine. The truck has 100k on it and it is a 4x4 and always been a Northern truck. I am friends with the dealer so getting an OASIS report is not a problem. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

aside from the usual, take a peek at the oil pan. if its rusty

you have to pull the motor to fix the pan.

I would look at all the intercooler boots. They are often covered in oil and need to be replaced. Ask about the condition of the glow plugs. Does it start well in cold temp? Also check for cracked leaf springs. Hopefully it all checks out the 7.3 is a great motor.

Just after 100k I had to replace both front hubs (bearings went out) and the ball joints. Check the tires for wear on the inside. Motor wise??? Aside from the CPS, I personally haven't had any motor issue's and from the sounds of it that's common with these, kind of like the Energizer bunny.
