My name is Derrick, my friends call me D Dub. I just bought my first Superduty about 4 months ago and im loving it. Its a 1999 F-250, 7.3, 140,000, K&N filter, 5" exhaust from turbo back coming out infront of pass side tire (always dirty), and for a little boost the Edge Evolution programmer.

I have been looking for a site where I can get free Tech. help that would be focused on the Power Stroke, and I think I found it. Ive been a member for a little over a month now but been to busy to post. (just finished moving) I have been reading your forums and already used some of the tips. Thanks!!!

My plan with my truck it to lift it 8" w/38" tires. But first I want to make sure that I will have more than enough power to turn the tires. I know my next purchase will be a set of guages, Im looking at a set of three on the pillar. Pyro, Boost, and Trans temp. I found a site that sells VDO or Stewart Warner Gauges for $340.00 with a matching pillar pod. Does anyone have any suggestions or better deals?? http://www.dieselspecialists.net Thanks for your help!!! I hope to spread the word around me and hopefully help others through your site.

1st of all, WELCOME!

Second, I like the look of the DiPricol Optix gauges like you see HERE enough that I'm thinking about ditching the Isspro's I've got now on the A-pillar and going with the DiPricol's.

Welcome to the site. Our sponsors have a great selection of gauges. I lean towards Autometer myself.

Derrick,

Welcome to SDD. Did you make a typo on the year of your truck? 1993? Just looking for clarification, IDI or PSD? PSD didnt debut until mid 94, Superduty didnt debut till 99. Help us help you.:sweet

Thats better, and youre welcome. There is a myriad of guages available and basically its going to come down to personal choice, white face vs black face. Degree of sweep on the needle, mechanical or digital...etc etc. The ones listed so far seem to be popular choices, di-pricol, ISSPRO, Auto-Meter...........

Welcome to SDD Derrick, I like my Autometer Ultra-Lites myself, I have heard K&N's are bad for turbo-diesels, I dunno, all I know is the K&N I had let alot of dirt past.

I actually used The Right Stuff on the sealing surfaces to make sure it wasn't getting between the box and filter, it was getting through the filter, so I dropped it like it was hot and built my own intake system, no more dirt anymore.

Oh and if(really when, lol) you want more power, consider getting a multi-position chip with custom burns to get the most out of your stock injectors.

Hey Derrick, welcome to SDD.

I've got the BD X-monitor digital guages. A bit spendy, but I like them. As for the K&N, mine works well and I've got the Blackstone reports to prove it. Don't waste money replacing yours unless you've got proof it's bad. :2c
