the auto tech instructor's personal 6.0 was on the lift, or really under it... all this just to appearently just change a filter! really though, the issue was to replace a head that was already replaced once. the curious addition was his oil cooler delete/remote kit.

BulletProof Engine Oil Systems

instead of the multiplate oil cooler/oil filter base in the valley, the system uses a block off plate and bypass to send the oil to a conventional filter then to a radiator, then back to the motor. you can see the white caninster under the DS headlight. The one under the PS headlight is the oil bypass filter canister.

the result is that the multiplate oil cooler that is prone to plugging up gets eliminated. 9 times out of 10, the mulitplare get clogged BEFORE the EGR cooler, thus getting no to little coolant flow to the EGR cooler. that is when the EGR cooler will fail.

EGR then gets cool 'virgin' coolant and oil that have not been heat soaked by the engine. kinda slick really.

enjoy
