When accelerating hard and the rpm's go over 3000, (2500 rpm while pulling my 5th wheel) the engine acts like it has ran out of fuel and the rpms drop off. If I let off the accelerator, the tranny shifts and I ease back into it, it seems to run fine.

Already changed the fuel filter

This is a 2000 superduty, competely stock with 79,000 miles :dunno

Do you have any gauges? I have EGT, boost and fuel pressure. They can better help you diagnose the problem.

I once had a similar sounding problem and it ended up being a tired fuel pump. It would seem ok at lower power but could keep up with the demand when I pressed my right foot down.

I'd check for air in your fuel also. The sort of thing the "Hutch" mod aka "in-tank/ pre-pump" mods will fix.

Tell us about your truck in your signature also. It will better help us help you.
