Hi everyone this is my second post to this site and i am in dire need of some help.I just purchased a 97 PSD F-250 5-speed.On my way home from work today,i was taking off from a stop, going through the gears, noticed it was barely making power.By the time i get into 3rd with my foot on the floor, the truck was losing speed, going nowhere. So i get ready to pull into a parking lot and before i even get in there it completely dies as if i turned the key off.Now this bad boy will not start,it will crank alright but no signs of turn over.I really need some help now,its still sitting in the parking lot i made it to.Any help is definately welcomed!

Losing power and then dying sounds like a fuel delivery problem, have you pulled the cap off the fuel filter? If so, is the filter plugged? If not, is the cannister full? If the cannister isnt full your fuel pump may have died. Do you happen to have a tire guage that you can hold on the shreader valve that is right adjacent to the fuel filter cannister? If you can have someone crank the truck while you hold the guage on the valve, see if it builds pressure.....again, if no pressure your fuel pump is dead.

Also, read the thread down just a couple of posts in this forum entitled "pregressively worse", there is some good info in that thread with a very similar problem.

Could be a bad injector too, I had a '96 that did that and it was an injector gushing oil and not letting the HP oil pump up.

Yep, same thing happened to me. #8 went bad and bled through.

well here goes, first the CPS had a short in it,the harness that goes to the fuel filter bowl(not sure what its called) was melted, and to cause it to non cold start,GP relay. All in all not too bad,but i got more bad news today, the rear brakes were absolutely shot, needs new cylinders, shoes, drums, spring kit,the works.pretty much sucks just owning this truck, and its taking me broke.Oh well hopefully it will be ok:dunno

All I can say is your problems are not rare but things do wear out. Broke occurs once it's running fine and you are fixated on getting more power. At that point we'll help you stay broke by suggesting upgrades. Isn't that what we're here for? :dunno :D

On edit: Why don't you fill out your signature so we know what you have so you don't need to tell us in every post. Click "User CP" at the top left of the page and go to signature.
