low oil pressure

when i start the truck the low oil pressure light stays on, the needle for the oil pressure gauge is lower than half way. the light will go off eventually, the needle will sometined go back to were it is supposed to be, but stays around the halfway point. the truck drives fine. just wondering is this the beginning of the HPOP going bad

I'd say the first thing to do is pull the sender and put a test guage in it and see what the oil pressure really is.
