I was on another website and I see Motorcraft 5w40 Synthetic Diesel Oil. I didn't know it existed. I went to the Ford website and it does exist. I have of course used the MC 15w40 in the past, but changed over to Rotella T 15w40 a while back.

The new MC 5w40 sounds like a decent choice but they must stay priced with others like Shell's 5w40 to sell this oil. Anyone here think thay may give the MC 5w40 a shot? My guess is only the dealers/ oil jobbers have it now.

I would have to see it with my own eyes before I decide. I am not sure it is real at this time.

SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil
SAE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil
SAE 15W-40 Super Duty Diesel Motor Oil
SAE 10W-30 Super Duty Diesel Motor Oil
SAE 10W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil

I don't see it.

I run Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 but have never seen Motorcraft 5W-40. If they made it I would not hesitate to use it.

When you get to the web page, click on the icon Bob Is The Oil Guy. You will see different oil group boards go the the HDEO and click. You will then see the MC 5w40 information.

Interesting that it is there but not on the Motorcraft site :dunno

Motorcraft SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil is a high-performance light and heavy-duty diesel engine oil designed, engineered, and recommended by Ford Motor Company. It is particularly recommended for use in Ford vehicles equipped with Power Stroke engines as in truck, bus, construction and other heavy-duty diesel engine applications. It meets API Service Category CJ-4, required for use in diesel engines designed to meet 2007 on-highway exhaust emission standards and requiring ultralow sulfur diesel fuel.

i love how they "claim" its a light AND heavy duty oil...pretty
much covers it....its everything for EVERY ONE !

of COURSE ford endorses it for their engines...THEY SELL IT !

lets see another engine mfg (even international for example)
endorse it...ask yourself...why doesnt ford endorse OTHER
oils w/ the SAME ratings ??? <hint, they dont make $ on OTHER oils>

I guess we will have to wait and see on this one, but it is in the MC Lubricants/Chemical Catalogs section. Other than that, I think the Bob Is The Oil Guy has a pretty good site.
