Question Motorized Runningboards

My son is interested in buying some powered runningboards for his '99 SDD. The ones he's looking at are called "Bestop PowerBoards". I agree that they are really cool but the practical side of me makes me wonder how they will perform (and hold up!) in our harsh Michigan winters. Snow and ice - and salt - can pack that area in a hurry. Anyone have any experience with these boards in our climate???

Tell him to get Amp Research boards instead. Bestop's are made oversea's. Amp's are made in America and have a great warranty. Amp is the original, Bestop is a knockoff. The Amp's will hold up fine.

And FWIW ? For any exterior 12v connections that might be exsposed to weather & road conditions ? You might try that [Liquid] Electrical Tape.

(I've got many 12v connections that are 10+ years old.. NEVER had an issue.)
