I just got done Monday afternoon assembling what I call GEN 2 of my WVO filtration.I now have the 3 filters in a 20/10/1/10WB sequence, was a little messy tearing down GEN 1 but I think this is much more pleasing aesthetically and easier to explain to friends/family :sweet
Below are the latest photos from my WVO album.

Just pure gravity filtration Robert from the 55 gallon drum, the first version's filter manifold was assisted by the clear water pump but only to around 2-3psi which required 100% attention when anything electrical is running.-popcorn

I decided on going with the gravity feed for a few good reasons; Electric pump not required, better filtration and I can leave a 5 gallon jug at the finished filter for an hour and a half to fill while I go do other tasks with the family.:sweet

Was a long time to get to this point so I'm pleased but I'd have to say the truck is the one that's actually happy:thumbs

It's a beautiful thing making you're own fuel but I'm far from the 200-300 gallon "Freedom tank" at least for now :D

ok let me see if i got it
you have a 55 gallon drum up high, that feeds down through the filters and drips out to the smaller gallon jug.
thanks, i thought the water heater in the background was involved some how, how much them 55 gallon jugs run?
so your using three "whole"house water filters 20 10 and 1 micron, what are you getting for life usage out of the three filters??? and do you prefilter the wvo before it goes into the "hopper"
thanks

how clean does the "oil" have to be for a set up like this...

on edit: how much are the filters and how often
will they need to be changed...

Yes the 55 gallon steel drum has separated/prefiltered oil which then gravity feeds thru the filter manifold into 5 gallon fuel jugs.
The 40 gallon waterheater is out of the sequence till winter when the oil has to be warmer for filtration or can be used for storage anytime.

The Blue fuel jugs I'm using are like $5-$6 each at TSC.

I look for only the cleanest oil to pick up from which means used for no more than a week and must be oil(not hydrogenated, liquid shortening, etc) so you want clean as possible which has clarity to it.

The current set of filters has about 55 gallons thru em and if the oil/prefiltration stays the same I want to say it's be at least 500 gallons before I need to change anything but with the cost of the cartidges at $1-$3 each that's nothing!

The lifespan of the 20/10/1 filters I think will last very long due to the homemade prefilter I made using a tightknit bed sheets x 4 layers which is strapped to the top of the 55 gallon drum as seen in the photo which catches most if not everything suspended particle wise.
