I think I've put my last NAPA glow plug relay on..
they fail every year, and usually when I'm running late for work..

I took a good close look at the one coming off before I heaved in the trash, and I think I've figured out why the fail..

it's a starter relay that's been renumbered.

GPR's run up to 2 minutes 30 seconds, and I don't think a starter relay is capable of that sustained amount of current flow.
Starter relays are designed for a few seconds of dwell time, not minutes.

just a heads-up..

I'll let this one fail, but in the meantime, order a Stancor.

NAPA is good for things like brake pads and brake shoes, but NOT electrical parts. I don't buy NAPA starters, alternators, generators or electrical parts.

I am afraid to write this down, by I am running the original GPR (or at least, since I have owned the truck in '05). Knock on wood.

I'm getting spooked now, I should never have read this thread. :dizzy

Here's the cheapest I can find the Stancor, at Newark $53.04 + shipping. After ordering it, the price came up as $43.31. Not sure about shipping cost...

Got my Stancor or White/Rogers from Allied Electronics..replaced my NAPA junk, that had failed in less than a year. Just a little contrary to put the Stancor on but all in all it took 30 minutes +/- from start to finish...disconnecting the batteries, cleaning everything up and what not. But the good news is...the old girl starts when its cold now.. :) We shall see how this one works but from everything I have read ... this is the way to go.
