I have a 2002 srw w/ factory 3.73 ratio. As you can see by the info in my sig. I need to change my ring and pinion in both axels (trannys are getting expensive and the 38's aren't helping things out much) My truck is sitting right now with a lunched torque converter, maybe even a tranny, dont know yet havent had time to pull it out and investigate. Anyway while I am fixing that problem I figured I would change to 4.56 gears. Do I have to change carriers to go that low? If I do what is the lowest ratio I can go to without changing carriers?

If memory serves me right you will need to change the carrier in the front going to a 4.xx gear ratio however the rear you will not need to change.

Thanks, I thought maybe the front would need to be changed, but had no Idea about the rear. I also saw somewhere there were thick gears available so you didn't have to change carriers but I can't remember if they were for a dana or the sterling.
