New gears?

I have an 05 F350 DRW that has 4:10 gears. What is your guys opion on changing to a 3:73 ratio? It just seems like 2400 RPM is high at 75 MPH.

What do you use your truck for? If you actually use the truck for towing/hauling then stay with the 4.10s. The lower gears will give better performance with a load. My 05 with 3.73 turns about 2100 rpm at 75mph. The little bit of fuel you'll save by changing gears isn't enough to justify the cost of a new set of gears and installation. Slowing down would be a lot more cost effective.

You did not say SLOW DOWN!:tounge JK I know in my semi its peak torque is produced at 1200 to 1600 RPM.So I didnt know if the power stroke liked the lower RPM's.
I tow any where from 6000 to 18,000LBS. What is PS torque curve?

I go to some larger tires first to see if the lower gears will do what you want. If you find you hate the new gears it's going to be expensive to go back.

Peak torque on the 6.0 is 570 ftlbs at 2000 RPM. Peak HP is 325 at 3300 RPM
Fords advertised #'s differ from the dyno tests of the shootout results from the stock truck. The dyno graphs are obviously RWHP. Fords #'s are power at the flywheel I think, yes?
