I totally agree with Big Joe on the gauges. Get a set of mechanical gauges first and then go for the mods. I would get the gauges even if your programmer has digital gauges. Digital will f**k up on you, just like your computer.

Dave :)

I'm convinced on the gauges before chipping; what is the favorite brand for EGT and Boost?? Is there a big difference in quality?? Best suppliers??

ISO and Autometer seem to be the most popular here. I have Autometer and that is MY choice but several here have ISO gauges and love them. They are about equal in my eyes with styling being the biggest difference.

Okay guys, EGT and Boost gauges installed and working well. (Autometer)
New WIX air filter installed with a short piece of 4" tubing.
Replaced a nasty looking fuel/water filter after cleaning the bowl (this may have been the first time. (broke the old cover getting it off)
Installed the 6 position chip from Advance Diesel Performance. Have only tried the fast idle, theft deterrent and the 50 HP upgrade and what a difference that made!
Can't imagine what the 75 HP or the 100 HP would do but I'm in no hurry to see.
We'll see if the money was spent wisely the next time we pull the 17,000+# Sundancer later this month.

Thanks for all of the help.

Next project will be greasing all of the Zirk fittings everywhere but especially the drive shaft universals.

Already have the 85/140 gear lube for the differential. Found the article on pulling rear cover with all of the details. Hopefully I can catch the old lube in a big bucket. ??

How difficult is it to install a 4" exhaust witha 3" down pipe? Got a price of $800 for an aluminized system installed but that seems pretty steep to me. I can't weld but most of the ads I've seen have clamps. ???

Almost all the exhaust kits are bolt in and can be done in the driveway. The down pipe is the hard part. It's getting it in between the fire wall and the motor.

If you dont find over there come to tampa. there some shops here that will do it.

Start with the down-pipe and work back. Slip everything together but leave it all loose. Hook up to all the hangers. Use wedges to keep the down-pipe where you want it (not touch'n anything) tighten it at the Turbo.. then work yer way back, tweaking as you go. Use the front of the muffler (or delete pipe) as a pivot for tweaking the tail-pipe, to where you like it.

Drive it for a couple days.. re=tighten/tweak as needed.

Dun Deal ? :dunno

(a Chain/Strap Wrench can also be your friend.. during install)
