Question no power

i am helping a friend on his 96 178,000 mi.,auto no power when you push the pedal. thought the turbo might be the problem. dtc showed no codes, when truck gets up to speed, passing another vehicle should only be done on a long stretch of highway. thank you for the help.

Could be the turbo. This sounds like you have NO Boost.

we dont have a boost gauge is there a way to see if it is a lack of boost. the turbo spins with the eng. running

Check all of the boots that connect the turbo to the intake manifold. You have a big leak somewhere. GET GAUGES!

with my tranny rebuild and his 7 kids we both have same issue with gauges. (war department says :NO!!)

You can also try electrically disconnecting the MAP sensor and seeing if it runs better based on the default tables. You'll get a CEL while it is unplugged. Doesn't cost anything to do it. Cheers!
