I am new to the forum and am in need of some advice. I have a 02 F-250 7.3L and have developed a noise when at idle...not always but sometimes. It sounds like a chirping sound and is definitely a rotational kind of noise. I have crawled underneath when idling and done the "ear test" and the noise is coming from the front and center of the engine in the area of the water pump or fan clutch. Any other thoughts???

Thanks in advance,
Jack

Try this, take a spray bottle fill it with water. When the noise is happening, spray the belt. If the noise goes away, then replace the belt.

hey i had the same thing a round 154,000 turns out it was the bearing in the water pump. so watch the clutch fan and see if it jumps when you here the noise. or just grab it and wiggle it up and down with the truck not running it shouldn't move but if it does im almost certain its your water pump.
