O/D light flashing

I pulled my friends camper trailer friday and everything went well and then when i went to drive my truck saturday it wont shift into 3 or Overdrive. the shifter goes into 1 2 D but it wnt shift. And after a bit of driving my over drive on/off light flashes on the shifter. Im curious if my button is messed up on the shifter or what the problem is. Cus it really sucked to drive 75 miles today at 40 miles an hour.

When the light flashes it is indicating a transmission problem. Rather than a idiot light on the dash they use the o/d light. You will need to get it hooked up to a reader to diagnose the problem. Normally when the o/d light is flashing it puts the transmission into a safe mode that will cause harsh shifts but if it wont go into 3 or OD then there is probably another problem that the flashing light is informing you about.

O/D light

Another cause for the blinking light is the harness for the shifter. It has real fine wires that break after a time.
