changed oil in truck today (sent off blackstone sample) & I ALSO did an oil change in the wifes van....
i pulled off the filler cap and look what i found...what is it? (had consistancy of runny mustard)...no smell of anti-freeze. when i drained the pan, nothing out of the ordinary...

It's an oil & water emulsion (snot), caused by condensation that can form, as the engine heats up and cools down.. especially in cold, damp, wet or snowy weather (MN)..

I wouldn't worry about it to much red.. other than cleaning up the cap real good and keeping an eye on the coolant level for awhile.. just to be sure there isn't an bigger issue in the works ?

If you see that "Snot", on the dip stick.. it's a nuther story. (Head Gasket maybe ?)

Ok Joe, I got your back on this one, again. It is water with oil. Probably condensation from the Winter air.

I have to agree with Dave and Joe, I used to see that alot on my older vehicles (probably from a poor oil cap seal?) May want to check / replace oil cap.

is that on a gas motor?
check the PCV tubes & hoses; make sure they're not rotting in on themselves - might not hurt to change the PCV valve as well..
