hi ya'll
I had noticed an oil leak dripping from my intercooler . So I took it to the dealer and had them look at my 06. 6.0 they said it was nothing , but I made them change the intercooler anyway . After I got it back it hit me , why is there oil in the intercooler ? and is there another problem I ain't seen yet , like the turbo leaking oil . or is it it going to leak ? and how much ?
thanks for the help

i'd say you probably got a turbo leaking into thr cac system. you need to go it checked...although the dealer should have checked that on your visit

Well there shouldn't be anything leakin' from your intercooler at all, they are a sealed unit and any leaks mean loss in boost which = loss in power. The oil in the system could possibly be from the CCV (crank case ventilation) that would go in just before your turbo from the top of your valve cover( unless the 6.0's are located differently). which is normal unless it is really excesive.

obviously you guys dont know how the 6.0L (or the 7.3) works...
have you found the PVC valve yet...nope you wont...cause the epa
says you cant vent the crank case to the atmosphere...it circulates
back into the system.

in the 6.0L it builds up in the intercooler...thats why you see blow by
on the CAC hoses...

No I don't know how it all works, that's why I'm here- to try and learn some things.

Do the 6.0's have a CCV like the 7.3's? Is there some mod or filter you can put on there to keep the oily residue from building up in the intercooler? Thanks for your expertise

Well obviousioly you can't read cause that is just what I said, and who said anything about a PCV vavle.

sorry just lately (not you guys necessarily) theres been
some blatantly innaccurate posts...mostly by trolls i suspect.

the pvc valve USED to be how they vented the crank case
pressure...thats not allowed anymore...it has to be CONTAINED
in the system...so in the 6.0 (and the 7.3 i wonder/suspect) the
oil/mist winds up settling (and accumulating) in the intercooler.

the flex connectors that are CLAMPED to @ the CAC hoses arent
a perfectly SEAL...you can tighten 'em down and theyll STILL leak
(a little less possibly but they will STILL leak).

you could add a 2nd clamp and try that but im not necessarily shocked
that it leaks when you consider STOCK the truck is building 30lbs of boost.
