Oil pan rusting

Hi all,
My '03 7.3 is experiencing a rust flaking problem. I live in S.E. Michigan, however, the truck has seen very little road salt. I was just wondering if any of you guys have noticed the same thing.
I see FoMoCo is recalling the older Windstars for a rusting differential plate. Maybe I'm next.

I had to replace my rear diff cover a couple years ago due to rust..
and yes, the oil pans do the same thing..
now for the really crappy news, the engine has to come out to replace the oil pan.

I found some stuff to "paint" the pan called POR 15. They have a kit for around $30.00. Seems to be holding so far.

As long as it is just surface rust, as said, hit it with the por 15 and pretty much forget about it.

I just had a guy do my oil pan cutting the cross member a little to replace it and welding it back in. Was a great job with a lot less on the wallet.
