Oil preferences

When I changed my oil for our trip to Kansas a week ago I used Mobil Delvac. My truck seems to idle a lot smoother and according to my wife is quieter. Are we imagining this or is there something more to it? I have used Rotella T religiously since I bought the truck (2nd owner) in 99'. If I had to give a reason for the switch, all I can give is a blank look. Maybe it was the cool black container with the built in spout. Anyways, I know everyone has there preferences but I was curious to see what others thought.

After 180k of running a cenex synthetic blend I switched to amsoil and thought it didn't sound as loud, but the wife tells me I don't hear alot of things.

I've head alot of guys saying the same thing howver some saying that going to rotella from delo helped their truck so its' honestly a toss up

I dont' think you're going to find anyone to will disagree with either oil and if the wife thinks it's quieter then run with it.

I've used Delo 15W40 exclusively for the past 125K but decided to try Redline 15W40 synthetic last August. At first I though the Redline was quieter, but after an poor used oil analysis I went back to Delo. If a quiet engine was my desire, I'm driving the wrong vehicle. Engine oil is like religion. People find what works for them and stick with it.

Definetly not looking for a quiet engine, diesel engine = symphony to this mans ears. Can't wait to take muffler and cat off and hear the turbo sing. Seems like there is always something more to do with these trucks which adds to the fun of owning one.

I run Mobil Delvac 1 synthetic due to our cold temperatures up here. I have had good luck with Delo 400. Delvac 1300 super and Cat oil in the past on other trucks. I think the most important thing is to pick a oil and stick with it. Switching around seems to cause more problems than staying with one.

I run rotella synthethic change at 10K with 5K filter changes. I have always run Mobil 1 syn in all my gassers. I recently located Mobil 1 Syn Diesel oil and its in the garage for my next change.
