This may seem like a weird question for 7.3 owners. Considering most of us use Motorcraft, Shell Rotella, Mobil Delvac, Chevron Delo and Valvoline Blue 15/40 weight oil(s) has anyone who changed brands regreted doing so (truck ran better on previous brand/ truck didn't use oil with previous brand or the new brand choice is the better choice)

:dunno

I haven't changed back, I have thought about it a few times but haven't. I have read in the past (3 or 4 years ago) that the government allows an oil to have as much as 75% fosil oil and still be sold as synthetic. At that time Rotella's synthetic was not 100% synthetic. As such I use AMSOIL exclusively as it is a true 100% synthetic oil.

I do, however, get my Motorcraft filters from Walmart.

where did motor oil go

we had our powerstroke running out of motor oil in only 60 miles ...no oil in crankcase oil light on..
no oil leak from engine..no smoke from exhaust ...?
the problem was oil went from injectors to fuel tank..and car was running on motor oil.we had to change seals on all injectors
truck had only 160,000 miles on it

rough idling

did you know that the oil in the tank on top of the engine ,for the injectors
high pressure system needs to be changed seperetly....
when u change motor oil old oil still isnt changed in this tank..
what u have to do is suck from the tank ,with suction until empty
and add again same ammount of motor oil again, into tank
let engin run for 5-10 minutes and do it again all over change oil 3 times
then u have fresh oil for injectors
DONT FORGET TO CLOSE THE THE SMALL SCREW .DONT LET IT RUN OPEN OIL IS GONNA SPRAY ALL OVER

That procedure is controversial, I have not done this for 761,000 miles, and it has been just fine.:stir

Thats a lot of miles, two thumbs up. Just courious, what brand of oil and oil filters are you using and how often due you change your oil and oil filter? My 2002 F350 has 74,000 at this point. I certainly would be proud to hopefully get this type of milage out of my 7.3

Thanks

got my truck last summer,34k on it, changed the oil right away, prolly @35K, put in some 15w-40 "heavy duty commercial engine oil" orchard oil is the brand I believe.it is the same rating and specs as rotella t. We have it in a drum in our shop, and use it in all of our diesel tractors and forklifts. anyway, 37K on truck,on vacation lost the h/p oil pump and reg.(I think it was just the reg out, but the ford dealership said both were out.) was it because of the oil? probably not, but I wont use that oil again, just to be on the safe side.
