Finally got 'round to taking some photos of the
Valentine one as its mounted in my truck (now).

Ive included a shot of the OLD mounting location (which might
give so other ideas about possible mounting locations)

in some photos you can still see the wire & PLUG in the cubby-hole...
where the detector USED to be mounted.

the cubby mounted remote display is the SAME one that i used
to CARVED w/ a dremil tool...to make it small enough to mount
in the dash...that done, the remote display no longer had the
all important MUTE button...so i rewired/built a REMOTE MUTE
BUTTON...it falls right about where my had lays on the drivers
door...no REACHING required.

the mute butt is a "momentary on" button...just tap it once
to mute the detector.

You cant tell it in the photo but the mute switch
(mounted on the drivers door) is ALL black (painted)...
since im mr. anti-chrome and all ;)

THANKS ! Im still searching for "the perfect" mute
switch...im not real happy w/ the one that i used...
but it works & it "kinda" blends in.

as a comparison if you look at the OLD vs NEW
location youll see how much got CHOPPED off the
remote display.

Nice work there Bushpilot, very clean and out of the way:notworthy :sweet

and INVISIBLE from "the man"....cops dont like it when
you try to even "the radar score"....if you got in in
plain view youre SURE to get a ticket !

one of the switches UNDER the dash (mounted in the
removable fuse/kick panel) controls power to the detector...
so i DONT have to do that "all familar reach UP" toward my
detector to mute it OR power it off.

I little off topic but not completely so I have to ask. Do radar detectors even help? I use to run one when I was a kid but it seemed like by the time it went off it was too late. Seemed like the State Police in Oregon and the Alaska State Troopers use radar that only shoots for a second rather than being on steady so the detector only told me that I was busted :cop . With a CDL I cannot take the chance of getting any points on my license :deal so I just drive the speed limit +4 :innocent

i thought they called it semaphore signaling flags back when
you were a kid ;) :D

The Valentine One works...its the best out there...its not the end all
though. and doesnt make (or allow) you to be an invisible speeder...
but it does give me warning and it has saved my arse (and my drivers
license) many times.

the INSTANT ON (or Pulse) radar that you speak of is intended to
provide minimal warning (and its used to get those w/ detectors...
why else would they need it)...BUT...Done right its not fool proof
either...that is if someone in front of you gets the radar 1st then
thats all you need (thats your warning).

NO ONE obeys the speed limit...if you do youll get rear ended or
run over...

Even w/ the best detector I try NEVER to speed w/out someone
in front of me...and i try to stay outta the LEFT (fast) Lane...since
thats where most cops run radar from...STILL you have to SCAN
the road as far infront of you as possible...look for brake lights from
those in front of you (if theres a cop the brake lights will come in
waves as those traveling in front of you spot the cop)

keep your eyes peeled for the TYPICAL cop car and again
let someone ELSE run "block" for you...If i can find someone running
faster than I, I let 'em by...and then i hang back several car lengths...
if theres radar out there, its LIKELY theyll get hit w/ it 1st.

now there are LASER jambers (and no, they are NOT illegal...) and
they work extreamly well...but again you need more than one defense
(radar & laser jambing) and you still NEED to keep your eyes open.
