I have an 08 6.4. The high idle is coming on, on a 85 degree day after its been running for a while. When the brake is aplied the idle will come down but it is not smooth. It's very sporadic. Any thoughts? thanks

sounds like maybe you need to go mr. dealer
the other engines have an oil temp sensor to bump up idle and it usually only works in the winter time.

the 6.4 has a bunch of new stuff so it might very well be normal to :eek: :eek:
:dunno oil might be getting to cold with all them extra coolers onboard :sly

let us know

im totally ignorant of anything 6.4, but i know a lot of the new heavy duty diesels have high idle to prevent wet stacking and other idle/below 200* temp related emmissions/problems.

let us know what the dealer says :confused:

what kind of high idle do you have, a chip or did you wire into the pto- or bcp wires? the battery charge protector will vary the high idle between 900-1200 depending on the load on the batteries. it will self adjust in that ballpark when needed.

stock motor. High idle is around 1200rpm. It has dual alternators.
