Loaned myfarmer son-in-law my 2000 PS to do some hauling and it sounds like 1 cyl has lost a valve, sounds like maybe intake. Hope that is all, if worst case scenario-I found a rolled 6.0L PS- how would it drop in, or would I be looking for more trouble? Thought about the Cummins swap- I did all that when I was a lot younger- don't have the fire to do that with all the potential wiring ( one part that doesn't scare me). This engine has been a great one- starts cold, has the in-cab idle control, has not ever used oil or skipped a beat. Has 6 speed std. 4x4 Super cab. I use it to yank my 27' fifth w. around. I guess I'll have my mechanic pull the valve cover to see if it is something as simple as a dropped keeper or something. Any Advice?

Pooched

Just a dead hole, obvious miss, no backfire(that was dumb), still runs, good oil pressure, temperature, no error codes. Weather here is crappy right now at -10. Son in law would never abuse anything- typical farmer- they will run mechanical stuff forever.

gonna have to have somebody run a contribution test on it.or get a pair of needle nose pliers and make a ground wire on it to ground them to the engine.pull the valve covers, fire it and unplug each injector till you find the dead one.does the same as pulling plug wires on a gasser to find the dead hole.but the injectors run un 115 volts wich is the reason for the ground wire.

gotta add some.

then you cand do a compression test on it.although somewhat rare it may have broke a rocker arm, bent a push rod or it may need injector orings.what color is the fuel in the filter housing?

is it throwing fault codes? (CEL on?)
if you can identify what bank it is, it may have a fubar'd valve cover harness
with an 18:1 compression ratio, if it's got a smoked valve, it WILL make noise
