I am looking at buying a used 2008 F-250 XLT with the 6.4 and 6 speed manual. It is 4x4 and extended cab with a 6 foot bed. It has about 5000 miles and an asking price of $28,599.

This will be my first diesel truck. Is there anything that I should really watch out for?

Does the price seem fair or should I offer lower?

Thanks!

The other thing that I would like to do is run biodiesel at least some of the time. I have read that the 6.4 can handle 5% bd, but not 100%. Anyone running 100% db on a stock 6.4?

the stock fuel system could probably handle about 20% bean-squeezins' but no more...

Run what you want but if there is a fuel problem and they blame your fuel, your warranty is null and void. They did set the bar at 5%.

First, thanks for everyone's input so far.

I decided against the 2008, but have now moved on to a 2004 F250 XLT 4X4 extended cab 8' bed. It has 60,000 miles and an asking price of $18,900. It is the 6.0 Powerstroke and auto trans. It is is pretty good shape as well. I think this is probably a better deal.

Would this one be any better to run bio diesel in?
I know there is all kinds of postings on this engine, but does it like modifications?
