I called local diesel shop, and they say that the MBRP turbo back 4 inch exhaust is good for 18-23 hp and 40-48 ft pounds of torque increase. That is minus the cat and muffler. Not a huge increase in power, but a must if one is to add a superchip or edge system, to keep egt in reasonable limits. As per other posts, the downpipe and cat replacement pipe are 3.5 inches. I see that some of you have the above exhaust. Do you think that their power increase claims are correct?

I didn't pay attention, all I could hear was that sweet ass sound ringing in my ears! :sweet

I recommend it fully, and go with the duals IMO, they look more unique over just the single

I think any power gains
have been negated by the right foot syndrome that was soon develpoed after the install. It sounds so nice and throaty with a touch of turbine sing.

maxtor, i didnt notice anything speacial after i put on the MBRP exhaust, other than the sound. could depend on the truck, seems as tho different truck respond differently to that, even though they are the same engine

ANYTIME you increase output from the engine, there is that much less "work" it has to do to push the exhaust out...
in fact a properly tuned exhaust system will help "pull" or scavenge the exhaust from the engine, thereby letting more charge in the intake faster, i.e. more power...
this is where the exhaust pulses are in time with the firing of the charge in the piston so the push and pull are mated well...

I would expect any good mandrel bent turbo back exhaust with a flow thru muffler to give you a 5 to 10% hp bump...

on the old 03 Ex after I had it for about 25K miles and knew what it felt like....
When I first did the turbo back it felt like a bump in performance of about 10% if my sensitive SOTP was right :)

and they REALLY let a tuner work betta !!!!

Thanks for all the inputs. You would think that Ford could make a mandrel bent exhaust system that would be free flowing. It's a shame that when you buy a new truck, you have to modify it to run better.

The biggest change I noticed was the turbo whine. :thumbs The power was noticeable, but not nearly as much as a programmer.
