I saw George perform on 2 occasions, and although his comedy albums were good, seeing him live was no contest. He could also piss you off with his comedy because he could take your mind places you didn't want to go. He could be dirty without being filthy, could make racial observations without being racist, and his work has stood the test of time. Kinnison, Pryor, Jeni, Hedberg, and now Carlin. What a loss.

Yep, he could really mess with one's mind and get you thinking. One of his routines asked "Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways?" I also liked the "I'm A Bad American" bit. There's lots of truth in that one. With his pushing things to the limit, he paved the way for many of today's "younger" guys, including Larry The Cable Guy, Ron White, and others.
