I'm trying to add some gear oil in my rear differential without haveing to take the cover off. I have an axle seal leak and I want to put some in to hold me off until I can get back home to get it fixed. I know my front has a magnitized plug on it that picks up any metal if anything starts wearing and to check the fluid level. Where is the plug on the back, if there even is one? Thanks

Front side of axle on the driver side of the driveshaft. Use a 3/8" drive extension to remove.

Mine was a 1/4" drive, but got it out. Fluid came pouring out (not too bad). So I guess I'm good on my fluid level??? It just got changed like 2 months ago.

If the truck was on a level surface than the fluid level should have been even with the bottom of the threads. So if anything it was a little overfilled.
