NOT acetone ! Ive done it by

finding an edge and start SLOWLY...if you use some
amonia based window cleaner, spray it as you go between
the glass & the tint...work it w/ the razor blade & pull it slow
and carefully.

it takes a bit of time to get the hang of the 1st one...

then go back over the window w/ a liberal spray of window
cleaner (amonia based cleaners work best to soften the glue)
scrape the window good w/ a razor blade (the glue will be soft
and should push/peel right off.

In the shop I used a heat gun to almost remove windows in one piece but for the at home user a hair dryer will work fine.

Windex to soften/disolve remaining adhesive which can be taken off with clean/new razor blades.

Have roll of paper towels to wipe up windex and any stray adhesive.

Somewhat a messy process but it's a can do Richard.

What Bushpilot sez..

Spraying the window cleaner (I've also used dish soap) before you scrape makes the glue just roll off..

Bill I'm not the hair dryer type of guy. :lmao
But I do have a good heat gun. :sly
I'm doing passenger window only (My dog licked it to foggy :D ).
So start from the top and heat across and peel down then follow with windex and a razor blade?

Just watch the plastic body panels, they're easy to distort/damage with a heat gun,but start top down.

It should remove in one piece long as you take your time as some adhesives hold really good.

Well that took the whole of four minutes. :thumbs No heat required. Man that passenger window is cleaner now than it has been in the past five years. Even my border collie noticed the clearer view as he rides shotgun. He now looks out the window more.

Whomever moved my post to truck cleaning & detailing ... ;tu

the way i was taught at bmw was to cut out a trash bage the size of the window with a few inches overlap. then spray window down with soapy water. place bad flat on window. tap the bag to seal to window but dont push out all the soapy water. let vehicle sit in sun for 10-15 minutes. then find corner and peel. works really well. what remains can be removed with window cleaner and a razor blade.

Now the other half of the story. :sly A stone hit my driver's door glass while driving on the interstate two weeks ago and it shattered into one thousand pieces. Since I had the tinting it acted like a huge piece of adhesive tape and kept everything together. :hail The window was totally up at the moment of impact. Since it was hot my reflex was to hit the electric window switch on my door which I did. The window lowered one inch that's it before I heard crumbled mashing glass in the door mechanism. Then it dawned on me what a foolish move that was because at 70 mph the top of the glass was flexing in and out and ready to shatter so I pulled off the interstate and took these photos just prior to cracking it out outward then tearing down (wearing leather gloves of course) and off. So now both windows are now tintless but so darn clean I'm shocked and impressed.

Hope you enjoy these photos.
