I'm going to be adding some switches for some aftermarket equipment soon. I am looking for 2 things, a nice switch and a nice place to mount them.

Please post pictures of your setup. Don't worry about the load rating of the switch because I will be using relays anyways.

:thanks

I sent him an email on 5-16-05 and he still has not replied. I called him yesterday and left a message, still no reply. He called me a couple of weeks ago about a truck but did not mention anything about leaving town but he might be out of town working. If I ever get a hold of him I will tell him to check his mail.

Shane goes on and off the road quite a bit. If he doesnt get back to you, then yes, he's prolly out of town.

Those switches ARE available on the web via some of the electronics parts houses, but they tend to require bulk purchases.

Here's a photo of the switch box I put in my f250. I got the switches from Shane, the box came from Radio Shack, the aluminum bracket mounted to the back of the AIC and switch box came from the local Ace Hardware Store, and the wood grain covers came from a friend of mine out on the east coast.

Since I took this photo, I found some paint that matched the wood grain color, so the screws are so obvious. It is crude, but functional.

Man - wish I had known about these when I was building my console :(

Just downloaded the PDF off the Calingtech main site - maybe doing some retro work if I can get enough of the correct labels.

I feel the best switchs made are Texas Instruments Klixon 7270 series.

They are actually a circuit breaker... you can get them from 3-35 amps. No need to run a fuse. They are shock and vibration resistant. They are also MIL spec rated. They normally go in airplanes or space crafts.

We run them on our race truck. They have been in it for about 5 years. We have never had one go bad. We thought we had a bad one once but it was the fact that we were running to many fans off of the one breaker. It kept tripping the switch. Once I realized that we had hooked up three fans to the once circuit and changed it, we never had another problem.

The only downfall to them is price. They run about $65-85 per switch. But when you want the best, most reliable switch made the Klixons are the best.

I attached a picture of our switch board and also zipped up the PDF of the switches. I couldn't just attach a PDF file because it would only accept a 19kb pdf.
