sloppy gear selector

hey guys my gear shift is pretty loose and annoying, I've heard you can tighten this up but I cant seem to find anything on how to do it.
does anyone here know how?
is it fairly simple?

What do you mean by loose? I know that there are some programmers out there that can firm up your shifts and change your shift points if thats what you are reffering to.

nah its cool i should have worded it better, i just cant seem to find any thing on that topic.
i mean its not affecting anything, it just really bothers me every time i change gears

im prettty sure it cant be tighted up but here how to replace it, and in the pics youll see why it really cant be tightened up

I would be interested in that info too. I have an Excursion with the same problem so the autostart doesn't always work.

ive heard from transmission shops that i can do it myself and that i could find out how just by looking it up on google..... except i cant find it, I have found the ford manual procedure on how to replace the cable, but if i can just tighten it then that would make everything easier aka cheaper.
