08 F350 with 30,000 miles. 4 or 5 times I've noticed the smell of burning rubber. the first few times I always noticed it after pulling into the garage. Not really been driving it hard at all so I wouldn't expect any smell generated by the tires. This weekend we were cruising through town at about 45 mph and we both smelled the "buring rubber" smell and we didn't even have the windows down.

Reading other threads here I've also noticed the bad bearing sound when the turbo releases pressure. My comute home is uphill and I usually hear this when I left off for a curve after a semi-hard climb.

Any ideas as to the cause of the smell?

thanks in advance.

Had the same trouble, I mis-diagnosed the smell. It was a leaky axle seal dumping gear oil onto my brakes. Brake discs got hot, oil burned and stunk like burning rubber. Worth a try.
