So what's the verdict on the 6.0L?

I currently have an '04 7.3L in a truck with 86k miles and am pretty pleased with it. Avg. fuel econ for me is roughly 15 MPG totally stock. No issues with motor other than alternator/batteries (ouch).

I'm looking to trade that in on a PSD Xcursion. I have found a few 6.0L for sale, but I've definately noticed that PSD Excursions are rather rare.

When they first came out I read about people having lots of trouble with them - is that still the case? I know some people's experices differ and have had trouble with the 7.3L.

What's the general verdict on the 6.0L these days? Should I hold out for a 7.3L for the X?

How'd you wind up w/ a 2004 w/ a 7.3L in it ?
the 6.0L is rare in an excursion cause it was only offered TWO
years...2004 & 2005 (opps and 1/2 the 2003 model year).

early 6.0L were problematic...the dealer base is trained-up now...
i would look for a 04 or 05.

Ive got a friend w/ a 7.3L excursion (2003) and hes had LOTS more
problems w/ his EX than ive had w/ my 6.0L f350 (2004)...hes been
thru turbos, and at least ONE tranny.

im completely problem free in 62k miles w/ my 6.0L

I think its a typo, Ive read back on some of his previous posts and he stated he had an 03 w/a 7.3L.

82K and only probelm I have had is a ICP sensor going bad. It was covered under the 100k warrenty so no worries here!

yeah, i love my 6.0 05' it has 60+ thousand and no probs yet.. those 03' 7.3 psd's werent they alot different then say a 02'? could be why they had some problems

I have a few friends that have 2006 6.0's and they have all had injector problems one had a problem with the turbo but they run like a scalded dog compared to the 7.3's in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing. "A few friends" isn't a statistical sample that's worth a damn so any conclusions you draw from such a limited sample aren't really valid or worth considering.

for the first 105,000 miles I put on mine (only thing I had done was a K&N filter kit), It pulled great, ran great, and performed beyond all expectations I had about a diesel. (it was the 1st. one i had ever owned)

then I got the MOD fever and I havent been the same since.
