I am in the process of gathering parts to make an appleseed. Right now I need to know what TWO filter sizes I need. I have ordered a house style filter set up that uses the 10" cartrige filters. What I need to know is what two micron sizes to get the filters in? Maybe a 10 and a 5? Also do you all think I need a water seperator/filter at the very end of the process? Plus, what do you think about a barrel heater for the storage or wash tank?

Thanx:dizzy

I used a heating element in one tank that I used to de-water and then ran the hot oil through cheese cloth prior to processing. I used a 10 micron filter/separator out of the wash tank and then 5 micron filter/separator out of the storage tank.

I have read that Racor fuel water filters only filter down to 30 microns. Can that be correct??? If so, is there a filter that filters down to around 1 micron for final filter before the tank and removes water?

When I decided to install a pre-pump fuel filter on my PSD, I looked up all the fuel water separators sold by Wix/Napa. I put them all on a spreadsheet with their nominal micron rating, thread size and whether or not they came with a drain.

It's enclosed below. Use it as necessary. If you don't like Napa filters, just cross to your filter of choice.

Use the filter buttons at the top of each column to filter to whatever is important to you. Filter heads with various filter thread sizes are available from fleetfilter.com for about $20 each.

Good luck.

100 micron sock to gravity pre filter heated WVO prior to processing.
10 micron spin on for drier/fueling station.
On our site we have a link to a video that goes through our software (BDCalc) and you can see the drier/fueling station plans.
