Some of these figures are skewed
For a long timne, the casualties of the Korean War were shown as you have listed but it was found that they included all casualties world wide during the period June 25, 1950 to July, 1953. The actual number killed in Korea (in theater) was 36.574. Roughly 1/10th of 1% of the total active duty strength dies in service every year and that accounts for the remaining deaths. These deaths are from every possible reason including training, accidents, and off duty deaths as well as suicide and homicide.
The numbers for the VN war are constantly changing. This happens because personnel critically wounded during the war, later succumb to their wounds.There are also missing in action personnel changed from 'missing' to body recovered by the Recovert Teams from the Department of DSefense that are still operating in Southeast Asia.
I just retired last March from a very large Federal agency as a military history researcher. If you every need any info I have lots.

I have some very strong feelings about these numbers but they are probably better off left unsaid.

I'm a second generation USMC Brat.. and USN retired.. Like USMC history best, and USN.. grew up with it.. found the links by Googling my G'father.. theUSMC POW link is very interesting..
