That is sweet. I'll believe it when I see it. Filled up yesterday and it was $2.71 per gallon and while I was in the middle of fueling up the man changed the sign to 2.76 per gallon. He told me that it was going to go back down it a couple of days though. Guess i'll wait to fill back up. LOL

Sweet that will really help out with my boat this summer!:sweet

you shouldnt be paying highway tax on boat fuel...if you are you
should be claiming it as a refund on your taxes.

the tax is for HIGHWAY improvments and maint....BOATS dont use
it so theyre exempt from paying the tax (just like off road diesel
doesnt INCLUDE the tax).

as for them giving the 20 cent break for the summer...one has to ask
WHERE theyre gonna make up the tax theyll be giving up @ the pump...

you watch...theyll take it off the per gallon price...then add it some where
else claiming they gave up too much...and then at the end of the summer
theyll add it BACK to the pump price and youll STILL be paying it where
ever they ADDED it to make up what they lost at the pump !

If it happens I'm there but I'm sure the state will make it up by increasing vehicle registration fees or something.

we wont tell you that theres NO such thing as Personal Property Tax
*OR* state income tax...now i will share w/ you we pay a bit more
in sales tax (but we dont pay tax on grocery/food) and the taxes on
our homes can be considered HIGH.

I can tell you we bought 3 times the size home in texas as what we
had in virginia...for the same price (and the house is MUCH nicer
here in texas...its no cracker box)

what i saved in virginia (state) income tax here in texas more than
covers the increase in taxes on our home...cool thing is the tax we
pay on our HOME goes to the schools *WE* use so we see where
most of our money is goin' !

There is no FREE ride. I they cut the taxes on fuel, we'll still pay somewhere. The money to make up for this cut was to come from last years "extra" money in the general fund. I want fuel prices to go down, but I'm not sure this is a good way to do it. It is a VERY temporary patch. People will whine like crazy when it is over and the price jumps $.20 overnight.

What I bet they do is lower the fuel price temporarly. Create a new tax to offset the loss of $'s, when the temporary fuel tax is re-instated, we will be used to the newly created tax and the new tax they created will never go away, thus netting out as new revenue from there on out. :sly
