My earliest recollections are:

the Kennedy-Nixon debate
the day Kennedy was shot
The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show

So I guess I'm old. :dunno

Oh, man, fiber board oil cans. Yep. remember those. Also remember dad having to measure out oil in quart jars from a 5 gallon pail. Actually had a screw on spigot and the glass jars were like mason jars but bigger. My how time has flown by.

Yep, I remember those Too. Worked at a [Richfield] Gas Station, Part of the job was to refill the glass oil jugs at the end of each shift. Jugs had a spout with a cap.

Pump the gas, Check the oil, Wash the Windshield/Headlights & Mirrors, check tire press., if asked. Gas was .25 cents (or so) a gallon.

Boss >Demanded<, we get to know the regular customers by name.. so we could Greet them when they came in.

Started @ .65 an Hour. Got a Nickle for every Qt. of oil sold

Just cruising the older forum posts and found this one. Can somebody 'splain to me why a plastic oil bottle is more "enviromentally friendly" than a paperboard can with steel ends??? I miss those cans! Miss those pull-tabs too. Had an uncle who, after his high school trip to Vietnam, became a professional student. His college apartment was decorated with long chains of pull tabs.
