I drove a 2003 7.3 PSD Friday and was impressed with the way the torque converter felt. This was a stock truck.

The forward motion in relation to engine speed was much better than my 99.5.

I think my truck has always driven this way which is why I put the T/C lock up switch on it almost 200k ago.

Did these trucks come with different T/C's in them?

it would not surprise me if they changed the stall speed or something over the years to either reduce emissions or improve fuel economy or drive ability

Programming is way different, 2003 is way better. If you get a chip, make sure
it has the 2003 programming. My 2000 is way different with the chip set to stock
(2003 programming) and with the chip taken out.
