Tranny shifting hard

Got an issue with my 96 F-250, it is shifting hard into 4th, it is getting more frequent, sometimes it is normal and sometimes it just slamms!!, the only other thing I have noticed is the tranny temp is running just a hair higher than what I normally see, any ideas? BTW it shifts fine up until the 3-4 shift, thanks

OD off light flashing? If it is pull the codes. Most likely a valve is sticking in the accumulator body. But it could be other things too.

No light flashing, I have had the V.B. pulled and everything cleaned / checked, it will run ok for a day or so or till it seems like the fluid warms up, then it starts doing it again

you most likely have a lip seal failing in the transmission you can check this with air pressure when the valve body is pulled. hot fluid is thinner and goes around aged & hardened seals easier than cold fluid.

Sadly it sounds like you are in the club that is awaiting the rebuild of an E4OD.
