I am on the road heading to Omaha, currently in Pittsburgh, I noticed that the trans is leaking and not sure how much how often. What I see is fluid dripping from the lip, around the drivers side and it starts from the center back. The trans is wet but no soaked. I have checked everything. It's dark and I haven't a clue what it could be, any ideas?

Thanks for the help all.

Can you see anything with a flashlight above the pan lip that might be leaking down to the lip?

yeah the leak is coming from the top, it is collecting on top of the lip. I thought the gasket too but collection on top makes me think not so much

Are you sure it is tranny fluid. Have you verified the color of the fluid?

Unfortunatly, it is red. The low fluid indication on the stick didn't make me smile either. What would be on top of the trans that would cause it to leak

I had read something about that somewhere,lemme check the recall list to see if anything is there.

Per the book;
Torque Converter Assembly, Pump, Transmission Fluid Pan, Transmission Connector, Extension Housing Gasket Seal, Manual Lever, Fluid Level Indicator, Fluid Filler Tube, Pump Bolts
Cooler Fitting, Pressure Taps, Converter Drain Plug, Band Anchor Pins, Cooler Tubes, Case — porosity, case cracked
Vent — blocked or damaged, Overheating, Pump Assembly

Is the leak only on one side? The vent is on the driver side and is just pressed into the case. The dip stick tube is on the passenger side. I would check to see if there is fluid on top of both sides or just one.

I would think it might be the vent also but.............. why is fluid being pushed out the vent? Do you have a temp gauge installed on your tranny? Are you towing heavy on this trip? When was the last tranny service done on this unit and did you (or the tech) notice anything unusual in the pan or filter after removal?
