transmission pan

what are they made out of steel or alum???? i want to put my tranny temp gauge in the pan just want to know if i had to weld it in or just drill and tap it. let me know

Dont think it be thick enough to tap. Prolly be best to use weld a bung on it. Just curious why yer not using the test port? I'm sure the fluid temp in the pan would be cooler than the fluid in the body. Or i could be wrong, and its steel.

I put my sender in the tranny pan. I just used the sending unit with a copper washer on the outside and a copper washer and nut on the inside. I haven't had any problems with mine. I believe that the stock trannmission pans are alumized steel.

Here is a pic... Very easy... Remove bolt, install sender... This is on the drivers side, right above the pan and infront of the control harness
