i'm a newb here so say hello. i have a problem that perhaps ya'll could help me with. i'm 21 and this is the first powerstroke i have owned. my dad owns a 02 7.3 4wd. my truck is a 05 crew cab 4wd 6.0 with 4 inchs of lift. the problem that i have is that my truck is losing power, studdering and blowing a whitish blue smoke out the tail pipe. it did once before and i changed my fuel filters and it stopped but today it did it again. it's only been like 2000 miles since i changed them the fuel filters. the truck only has 40,000 miles. any help would greatly be appreciated.

Headgaskets? White is going to be either unburnt fuel or coolant and blueish is defenitley oil.

i thought BLACK was unburnt fuel ? White is steam <water/coolant> &
blue is oil.

whens this "studdering" take place...under load ? or idling ?
do you have other (good) guages ? boost ? egt ? what are they doing...

is the boost guage jumping and falling off under steady acceleration ?

any engine codes ?

i know its not the FINAL answer, but your truck has a 100k/5yr warrenty
on it...so maybe once we diagnose it some more youll be able to make
a decision about taking it in or performing the repair yourself.

Sorry bushpilot. I should have said whiteish/grey meaning an unburnt fuel and water mixture. Black is defenitly excess fuel.

Black is partially burnt fuel...white on a cold start is unburnt fuel or water if it's up to temp....blue is oil.

thanks guys i really appreciate the responses. my truck is all stock except for 4in. exhaust.
it studders as soon as i start it up. no the boost gauge isnt jumping around it stays steady. but like tonight i left the gym and i drove about 20 miles home and it was fine. it was running really good. i hit it hard a few times and it ran like normal. i havent had it plugged in so i dont know about codes yet. im going to get it plugged in tomorrow at work.
