My brother has a 2001 F-250 7.3L with around 170,000 miles. He usually shifts his truck into neutral when getting off the interstate. A few months ago he happen to shift to it into REVERSE while getting off the interstate!!! I know, I know, that is not the best thing to do to a truck. Anyway, his truck shut off completely. It cranked back up and ran fine. However, since then he noticed that the transmission won't lock out when in overdrive. Also, when the truck is stopped and shifted into reverse it will die. The idle in park seems to be close to 600 RPM (even with the A/C turned off). My F-250 idles closer to 800 RPM. He has a straight pipe (no muffler and no cat) and a DP tuner. Everything else is stock. Each of the setting (including the stock setting) on the DP tuner will still allow the truck to die in reverse. Air filter, oil, oil filter, and transmission fluid are changed on a regular basis. Anyone have suggestions on what to start looking at for these problems?
